Current estimates suggest that nearly 89% of the world's population faces hunger. Wasting food also means that all the natural resources used in the cultivation, processing, packaging, transportation, and marketing of food are lost. Moreover, the food industry accounts for approximately 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions, releasing around 33 GT annually, which would make it the third-largest emitter if it were a country. Given these facts, food-managing businesses face a significant challenge in reducing food waste and managing the waste produced. Therefore, the aim of our educational program is to inform participants about the environmental, sustainability, and economic impacts of large volumes of food waste and to provide solutions and practices they can apply in their business by implementing an effective Food Waste Management System.
