Description of the training program

The need for food waste management is more relevant than ever in the context of sustainability. Current estimates suggest that nearly 89% of the world’s population faces hunger. Wasting food also means that all the natural resources used in the cultivation, processing, packaging, transportation, and marketing of food are lost. Moreover, the food industry accounts for approximately 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions, releasing around 33 GT annually, which would make it the third-largest emitter if it were a country.

Given these facts, food-managing businesses face a significant challenge in reducing food waste and managing the waste produced. Therefore, the aim of our educational program is to inform participants about the environmental, sustainability, and economic impacts of large volumes of food waste and to provide solutions and practices they can apply in their business by implementing an effective Food Waste Management System.

Additionally, the latest innovations in waste treatment will be presented and discussed. Through these, various food waste and by-products undergo treatments that reduce their pollutant load while producing (high) added value products or food in an absolutely ecological and environmentally friendly manner

The topics of the training program is ideal for:

Executives in the food industry and managers of departments such as Production, Procurement, Receiving, Warehouse, Food and Beverage, Executive Chefs, etc., involved in decision-making regarding food waste management.

  • Designated Managers of Management Systems within the company who want to expand their knowledge on the requirements of a Food Waste Management System
  • Executives of industries utilizing organic and other waste
  • Employees whose organization’s management, plans to designate them as Environmental Management System Officers.
