Description of the training program
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), significantly increases the obligations of businesses and institutions. Various entities, depending on their nature (public or private), the nature of their operations or the processing they carry out (e.g. processing special categories of data or large-scale processing, etc.) and their partnership requirements, are required to have a Data Protection Officer (DPO). In this context, institutions should be aware of the role of the Data Protection Officer (DPO), and/or maintain a DPO position internally or in the form of purchasing services, but the DPOs themselves must be able to effectively perform their duties. The duties of a DPO are several and are outlined in the Regulation and will of course be detailed in the training.
The purpose of our training program is to support both the operators and the DPOs, offering the basic knowledge of the Regulation, the relevant National Implementing Law (125/I/2018), as well as the Directives of both the National Data Protection Authority and the European Data Protection Board, delving into practical issues, but also with practical examples and case studies, to support the participants in their duties and offer them the knowledge and skills to successfully support their organization. Finally, since as mentioned below participants can take an exam and become Officially Certified (recognition in each country of the European Union) as a DPO, the aim of the program is to prepare participants appropriately to achieve the goal of Certification. Besides, in previous similar Mind the Gap trainings with the same trainer, the success rate in the Certification exams reached 95%.
Certification Option
Participants, in addition to the Certificate of Attendance that they will receive at the end of the Training Program, have the opportunity, if they wish, to sit for a qualification exam, acquiring the title ”Certified DPO”.
The examination process is organized by ACTA CYPRUS, a branch of the ACTA Certification Body in Cyprus and the Certificate of Professional Qualifications that will be issued directly by the ACTA Body (Aristotle University of Cyprus).
The examination material is accredited by the ESYD (National Accreditation System).
ACTA is an accredited body and the certificate is a recognised tool that creates opportunities for professional development.
